The Great Wall
The Great Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is a long wall that stretches across northern China for over 13,000 miles. When it was first built, it was meant to protect China from invasions by Mongol tribes in the north. The Great Wall was begun in the 3rd century BC by Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Over the years, many dynasties worked on the wall, including the Han, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
Parts of the wall are in poor condition and need restoration, but many parts of the wall are still standing. Today, visitors can hike on the Great Wall to enjoy beautiful views and see the history of China.
